I’m testing 5 AI video websites to help you find one that suits you. As you might have noticed, everyone and their uncle are now creating AI videos like never before. And the websites where you can generate them, are popping up like mushrooms. And all of them promises that you can make advanced (and free) AI videos as soon as you’ve signed up. I will check out 3 of the more common websites, and 2 that (might be common, but) creates a bit unusual videos.
Kling
Kling has been around for some times now and they give you 66 free credits every 24 hours, and you can use those for generating AI videos. However, as a free account you are a bit limited. You can use Kling 1.0 to generate 5 second videos from either just a prompt or from image and prompt.
I am going to be honest, I haven’t used Kling a whole lot and I wasn’t going to start a premium account with them at this time. I already have a premium account with another provider, and I don’t really need more than that for now.
Kling 1.0 is the AI website I had to wait the longest to get my free video generated, up towards 3 hours. The waiting time will vary though, dependning on how many people are using the website at any given point. And the result? The videos I created using Kling 1.0 was not very impressive, but I’m sure that if you have a premuim account and access to Kling 1.5 as well as some of the other extra options, you can make really decent videos.
What I like about Kling is that they give you the option to use an image as part of the prompt, and even allows you to pick a start frame and an ending frame. It makes it a lot easier to control the outcome of the video.
All in all I think that Kling deserves a 3,5 out of 5 stars.

Minimax
Minimax is a fairly new Chinese AI video website, and the English side of it is named Hailuo AI. I never used the Chinese version, so I don’t know if there’s any difference between them. They do give you 100 credits every 24 hours, which is a kind of odd sum as each video costs 30 credits to generate.
You will be able to create 3 free 6 sec videos every 24 hour, and you can choose to create them using only a prompt or using an image and a prompt. You don’t have the option to select and end frame, unfortunately.
The waiting time to get a free video generated are often relatively low, between 10 minutes and 1,5 hour is the most common for me. The quality of the videos are usually pretty good, and are in my opinion better than Kling.
The quality of the outcome is what makes me pick Minimax over Kling, even if Kling allows me to create more videos per 24 hours. It doesn’t really matter how many videaos you are allowed to create, if you have to remake them becuase you aren’t happy with the results.
The free version of Minimax gets 4 out of 5 stars from me. Since I haven’t tried their premium, I’m not sure how much of a difference that would make.

Luma – Dream Machine
This is the website I have choosen to pay a subscription for. Luma (both free and paid accounts) lets you generate images from either a prompt or image and prompt, and let you pick a start frame as well as an end frame. You can also use their camera command to manage the outcome in a more accurate way.
But one feature Luma has that I haven’t found anywhere else (I’m sure I’ve missed it somewhere) is the option to extend a video. Meaning that if you are happy with the 5 sec result you get from youe generation, you can extend that by 5 sec at a time. And the extended part will use your last fram as its starting fram, making the a seamless video clip from the previous and the extended video.
The waiting time for generating free videos can sometimes be quite long, unfortunately. But with a premium account the videos are generated instantly. Instead of complicating things with credits, Luma gives you 30 free video generations per month. And if you purchase a plan, the paid generations are added to the free ones.
My subscription at the cost of $9.99 monthly will give me 40 paid video generations + an addistional 30 that are free.
Because I like the features Luma has, and the way they handle the subscriptions as well as the quality of the videos I am giving Luma 4,5 out of 5 stars.

Invideo
This one is a bit special and I don’t think it’s purpose is to create the type of videos I like to create. The videos are more like a presentation, with a narrator and the video is composed of a mix between AI generated material and stock photos/videos.
it’s safe to say that I don’t like this one. It doesn’t produce real videos, and I haven’t found a way to opt out from the narrator voice (at least not with my free account).
I feel unfair giving it a really low rating though, because it’s obvious that its purpose is different from what I’m looking for in a AI video generation website. And I’m sure that this website has its uses for certain people as well.
I will give Invedeo 2,5 stars out of 5.

EasyVid
This website is very similar to Invideo, and least its free account is. You provide a prompt that are made in to a script and the script is used to creates scenes (pretty much stills, and not videos).
As with Invideo, I realy don’t like this app. And just as with Invideo, I understand that it has a different purpose than what I’m looking for and that it surely has its use for some people.
But in my opinion, neither Invideo nor EasyVid are actually helping you create AI videos, and because of that EasyVid will also get 2,5 out of 5 stars from me.
